Why This Trip
Four Reasons It Stands Out
01
The Grizzly Drop.
A Class IV rapid where up to twelve bears have been seen fishing at once. There's nowhere else quite like it.
02
Two Rivers, Two Characters.
The intimate, technical Babine gives way to the wide, powerful Skeena, an expedition that keeps evolving beneath you.
03
Wildflowers and Totem Poles.
Float through the abandoned village of Kisgegas and past the totem poles of Kispiox.
04
Grizzly Country.
Among the highest concentrations of grizzlies anywhere, plus wolves, caribou, stone sheep, and eagles.
The Heart of It
What Makes This Trip
The Babine is a river of salmon, and of everything that follows them. One of the world's largest sockeye runs draws wolves, caribou, eagles, and one of the highest concentrations of grizzly bears on earth. You'll start in Babine River Corridor Provincial Park, where gentle Class II–III water lets your group find its footing before continuous Class III builds toward Grizzly Drop, a Class IV rapid where up to twelve bears have been seen fishing the same water you're running.
Past the abandoned village of Kisgegas, the Babine gives itself up to the Skeena: wide, powerful, and rolling with big Class III waves, finishing at Old Hazelton past the totem poles of Kispiox. Two rivers, six days, and guides who know every current. No experience required.
